Blondie Going Green

The red room is offically gone. YAY! I love red, truly. Maybe one day I'll paint an accent wall in red, but I switch out accessories often enough that it was time to go with something neutral for the bedroom walls. Grey goes anything. :) I went with medium grey called Anonymous from Behr, and absolutely l love it!

So what am I talking about blondie going green? I really am referring to my desk. Though very sensible and looks excellent against the grey (remember I'm going for the modern theme here) I wanted a pop of color against the other neutral tones I'll be bringing into the room. So I went from the blonde wood desk...

To this yummy pop of green called Thyme, again from Behr. The prints on the table are from a fellow Etsy artist Yellena. I've adored her prints for the longest time and as you can see have a nice collection going. :)

Upcycling Skeleton Keys

I've started incorporating skeleton keys pendants in my jewelry line! Not only is bead made right on the key, but I've added plenty of vintage brass, beads and a glass leaf; little charms to finger and play with. I like keeping these on a thin silk cord, but you can switch it out with any of the wide silk ribbons. I have a few currently available in my etsy shop, just click HERE. I'll have more in the upcoming days.

And almost as a joke, a friend of mine got me these set of vintage skeleton keys that are nearly 6 inches long! I really wonder what these were for, prison keys maybe? LOL... I don't think I can even punty them up and melt a bead on it, strictly for decoration purposes though. Can you imagine this hanging around your neck?! :) Anyways, have a fabulous day guys!

Oh sunny cat...

A quick post for today. I recently repainted my bedroom and bought new furniture, so after a two weeks of moving everything out (man do I have a crapola amount of stuff!) I was ready to paint! Except my kitty Casey found the silver of sun and decided to take a nap. :) More pictures later of the finished room!

Upcycle Exchange at Artropy!

Next weekend, April 25th, I'll be Artropy, ShowMe Etsy's spring art and craft show. If you weren't able to attend my previous craft shows in '09, I'll have lots of new items including vintage skeleton key pendants and tornado focals. You can see a sampling of what I'll be bringing in my Etsy shop.

I'm also excited to be a participating vendor in the Upcycle Exchange at Artropy. It's a fabulous program... as artists we're always looking for items to use in our art. Have any leftover scraps of paper or fabric? Or maybe empty wine bottles or old picture frames? Even *cough* vintage skeleton keys? :) Through the Upcycle Exchange, you download the artist's wish list and 'hunt' for the items artists have requested. Donate your items to the Upcycle Exchange booth and you receive a 10% off coupon at any participating Artropy vendor. To find more information or download the wish list, click HERE.

Making Bead Caps...

Wow it's April already?! I swear this year is going buy so fast. I've kept myself busy... last weekend I visited a friend of mine in Chicago and had my authentic deep dish pizza fix. We went to this fabulous little cafe near her house called Taste of Heaven. Oh my the breakfast was sooo good... a huge fluffy omelette filled with portobella mushrooms spinach and cheese with a side salad. Becky, Venessa and I also stopped by Andersonville Galleria... a cute little shop she's in.

Anyways, just before I left, I used two packs of PMC to make some big-hold bead caps for my focals... I think I made enough. LOL... I love the texture of these, and I even got some amazing colors from the patina. Colors like blues, purples, greens and even pinks.

Well, I'm off and running today! Celebrating a birthday with family, then attending Wall Ball @ Third Degree Glass Factory this evening. You can watch me demo from 7 - 11 p.m. :) Have a great weekend everyone!
